What We Do

At FOVOC, we are committed to empowering and supporting victims of crime and gender-based violence in Mpumalanga, South Africa. As a dedicated non-profit organisation, we strive to create a safer and more just society by providing a range of free services designed to help victims rebuild their lives and regain their dignity. Our trained auxiliary and social workers ensure that all people are cared for professionally.

Our Services

We offer a comprehensive range of free services tailored to meet the needs of victims:

Restorative Justice Services

Helping victims find closure and rebuild their lives through restorative practices that foster understanding and healing.

Advocacy for Victims of Gender-Based Violence

Championing the rights of victims and working towards systemic changes to prevent gender-based violence.

Psychosocial Services

Providing emotional and psychological support to victims of crime and gender-based violence.

Vocational programs

Gender based violence occurs due to financial dependency which is why at FOVOC admitted clients are capacitated with sustainable skills such as pedicure and manicure training, sewing, gardening, crocheting and jam making to be able to make a living upon discharge.

Crime Prevention and Victim Empowerment Services

Equipping communities with knowledge and tools to prevent crime and support victims.

Counselling Services

Offering compassionate counselling to help victims navigate their healing journey.

Sheltering

FOVOC has a shelter for abused women and children and they accommodate woman aged 18 till 59 with their children. Victims can be sheltered for a maximum of 6 months depending on the merit of the case.

Our Mission

To advocate for and empower victims of crime and gender-based violence by providing holistic restorative justice services, psychosocial support, and preventative measures that promote healing, justice, and community well-being.

Rights of Victims

FOVOC advocates for victims of crime and violence and ensures that they educate victims of crime about their rights.

The seven victims rights as stipulated in the victims charter are:

  1. The right to be treated with fairness and with respect for your dignity and privacy.
  2. The right to offer information.
  3. The right to receive information.
  4. The right to protection.
  5. The right to assistance.
  6. The right to compensation.
  7. The right to restitution.
